Description

The sidewalk sweeping vehicle cleaned the sidewalk on S side of Mt. Auburn toward Mem Drive a day ago. Sidewalk sweeper did NOT clean the N sidewalk near Longfellow Park where the leaves cannot blow onto the grass as they can on the S side. This is a major pedestrian thoroughfare between the hospital and Harvard Square and the area is not in front of private residences but is city responsibility. The walk is nearly obliterated by leaves and acorns as it is perpetually in the winter with ice and snow. The city will fine owners who abut the side walk but does not clean the sidewalks it is responsible for. I have complained earlier and noted that the city is likely to be liable for a pedestrian's accident there.
