This intersection needs to be re-routed, back towards Patrick Henry Mall, past the Interstate, IMO. Traffic backs up constantly on I-64 because of this intersection. If it were moved, there'd be no reason for traffic to back up, as they wouldn't be trying to get over right away.

Mr. Jones,
I understand your frustration, as I travel through this intersection frequently. In fact the City in conjunction with VDOT is currently looking at this intersection for some possible safety enhancements. However, your recommendation is not financially feasible. It would require multiple land owners, a bridge of a water body, an overpass of I-64 as well as a new intersection.
It should be noted that the City has already taken certain steps to eliminate the merge off of interstate to make the immediate left into the shopping center. Furthermore, the City will continue to look at the safety recommendations at this location to enhance both the safety as well as efforts to relive congestion.

I have been watching this site for a bit now. Dude you should be glad that the City folks at least answered your complaint - it is more than the state peps did.
